Jaldapara National Park is situated in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas on the banks of the Torsa River in West Bengal, India. Spanning over 216 square kilometers, it is a significant habitat for the Indian rhinoceros and provides sanctuary to a wide range of flora and fauna. The park comprises dense grasslands interspersed with riverine forests, offering ideal conditions for wildlife. Established in 1941 as a wildlife sanctuary, it gained national park status in 2012. The park is noted for its rich biodiversity, hosting animals such as elephants, sambar, barking deer, and an impressive array of birds including the Bengal florican and a variety of hornbills. Tourists can enjoy elephant safaris and jeep tours, which provide a close view of the wild inhabitants.
